At the peak season for kiwifruit pollen collection and processing, Zunyi Bohong Kiwifruit Industry Co., Ltd. is working diligently and efficiently to comprehensively carry out kiwifruit pollen harvesting, production, and refining. By collecting high-quality pollen, they are injecting production momentum into the local kiwifruit industry, improving its quality and efficiency, and promoting high-quality development.

At the Bohong Kiwifruit Pollen Planting Base in Bozhou District, Zunyi, kiwifruit vines climb trellises, their branches and leaves lush and verdant. Pale yellow male flowers spread throughout, filling the air with a sweet fragrance. Numerous workers move among the trellises, skillfully harvesting the male flowers, creating a vibrant scene of busy spring labor.

"The kiwifruit flowering period is very short, and the window for harvesting male flowers is only six or seven days," explained Zhang Hao, head of the Bohong Fruit Industry pollen base. The base began intensive harvesting around April 13th, and is expected to complete the harvest by mid-to-late April. At peak times, more than 30 workers operate simultaneously each day to ensure the timely harvest of high-quality male flowers.

Kiwifruit is a dioecious fruit tree, and pollination quality directly determines the fruit's shape, taste, quality, and yield. To ensure pollen quality from the source, Bohong Fruit Industry's Guizhou base adopts a 1:1 male-to-female tree separation planting model, coupled with standardized planting and management techniques such as rain-sheltered greenhouses and integrated water, fertilizer, and pesticide application, achieving scientific and standardized orchard establishment. In a bumper year, the base can produce over 200 kilograms of high-quality kiwifruit pollen, enough to meet the pollination needs of 20,000 mu (approximately 1,333 hectares) of kiwifruit orchards, while also providing a platform for nearby villagers to find employment and earn a stable income.

"The pollen base is right at my doorstep. Every year during the flowering season, I come to pick flowers, and I can also participate in fruit tree management. I can take care of my family and earn about 100 yuan a day," said Tang Mingfang, a villager from Gaoshan Village, smiling.

The picked male flowers are then sent to the production workshop. On the modern production line, equipment operates efficiently, and workers follow standardized procedures. Through automated mechanized processes, processes such as anther stripping and pollen extraction are completed. The pollen then undergoes rigorous detoxification testing, with each step carefully controlled to ensure its safety, reliability, and superior quality.

The company's representative explained that the specialized kiwi pollen production line they've introduced can process 3,000 kilograms of fresh male flowers daily, producing approximately 10 kilograms of pure pollen. Relying on independent, standardized harvesting and industrialized refining, the purity of the kiwi pollen produced at the base remains consistently above 97%, with a pollen germination rate exceeding 80%. This significantly improves production efficiency and product quality, providing strong technological support for the abundant and high-quality production of kiwifruit in Guizhou.
